I Spend Each Day Embracing Flowers

Yayoi Kusama is a legendary Japanese contemporary artist best known for her immersive installations, obsessive repetition of motifs like polka dots and pumpkins, and groundbreaking Infinity Mirror Rooms that blur the lines between self, space, and the cosmos. In 2023 she presented I Spend Each Day Embracing Flowers, a major exhibition at David Zwirner in New York featuring towering, richly colored stainless-steel flower sculptures that transform the natural world into surreal, larger-than-life forms, reflecting her lifelong fascination with nature’s beauty and impermanence; the show also included new paintings from her EVERY DAY I PRAY FOR LOVE series, monumental pumpkin works, and a vibrant Infinity Mirror Room that wraps viewers in kaleidoscopic light and reflection — encapsulating Kusama’s enduring themes of love, obsession, and the endless interplay between inner and outer worlds.
